Spoonley Wood Roman Villa 🏛

Film about my walk from Sudeley Castle, just outside Winchcombe, to Spoonley Wood Roman Villa in Gloucestershire.

The villa likely dates from around the 3rd or 4th century, and was expanded over time.

Sadly it seems that the mosaic actually dates from the 1800s when the site was excavated, though it’s not clear exactly how much, if any, of the original mosaic was used in the renovations. See the Historic England link below for more background on this.
